There are three types of commercial automobile policies:
Business Auto Coverage — this is the most common type — available coverages include liability, medical payments, no-fault benefits, uninsured motorists, underinsured motorists, collision, comprehensive, specified causes of loss and towing and labor.
The definition of auto is very broad and includes any land motor vehicle, trailer, or semi-trailer designed for use on public roads except mobile equipment. The definition also includes newly acquired autos.
Garage Coverage — is designed to meet the special needs of businesses engaged in selling, servicing, storing, or parking vehicles. It is actually more than just an auto policy since it also provides liability coverage comparable to what is available under the CGL coverage.
Motor Carrier Coverage — is designed for businesses that provide transportation by vehicles in the furtherance of commercial enterprise. These include common carriers, contract carriers and private carriers who transport their own property.
