EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES LIABILITY

Employment related claims are always excluded from CGL policies. These claims may be covered by Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI).

An EPLI policy covers only those employment practices specified in the policy. These include but are not limited to, discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, breach of employment contract, failure to employ or promote and wrongful discipline.

The insured is usually the business, its officers and directors, and some or all of its employees and former employees. EPLI is written on a “claims made” basis and includes a self-insured retention that varies according to company and limits of liability.
